WA3.2 - Multi-kW, Uncooled Densely Packed Fiber Array for Laser Beam Combining

Abstract

Abstract

The array of seven fiber collimators with transmission about 99.9% was tested with 1.99kW per one channel. Truncated radiation, ~6%, was disposed through output collimating lenses by re-directing Gaussian beam tails with interior holey micro-lenses. No cooling was necessary. Beam quality in far-field M2 ~1.2.

Abstract

Abstract

An array of synchronized microphones measures energy deposition along the length of laser filament in a single shot. A spread of collapse location positions due to air turbulence and laser energy fluctuations causes a pronounced difference between single shot measurements and conventional multi-shot averaging.

WA4.2 - GENERATION OF BROAD SPECTRAL COMPONENTS FROM MID-INFRARED ULTRASHORT PULSE LASER PROPAGATION THROUGH SINGLE- AND POLY-CRYSTALLINE OPTICAL MATERIALS

Abstract

Abstract

We investigated the nonlinear optical properties of single- and poly-crystalline optical materials using ultrashort mid-infrared laser pulses between 3 and 4 µm. We compared visible to mid-infrared spectra between the materials. Measured energy conversion into all-order harmonics in polycrystalline materials exceeded 30%.
