Abstract

Ball Aerospace manufactures short-wave infra-red (SWIR) Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (GmAPD) light detection and ranging (LIDAR) receivers for defense and aerospace industries. This detector sensitivity combined onto multi-pixel arrays enables high resolution LiDAR and communication systems for low SWaP and extended range operation. This work reviews GmAPD technology provided by Ball Aerospace.
