Silicon photonic(SiPh) passives that can be fabricated with high-yield and provide low-loss and wide-bandwidth operation are key enablers for SiPh applications in coherent optical communication systems. Here, we discuss high-performance inter-polarization mixers, power splitters/combiners, polarization manipulators, fiber-to-chip couplers allowing for novel SiPh coherent receiver designs.
