We introduce a powerful homogenization-method to calculate effective nonlinear susceptibilities of metasurfaces and use it to demonstrate that the second-order susceptibility of graphene metasurfaces and Raman susceptibility of metasurfaces made of silicon photonic crystal cavities can be enhanced by more than two orders of magnitude.
