TuB4.1 - CHIP-SCALE GENERATION OF COHERENT THZ FREQUENCY COMBS AND RADIATION

Abstract

Abstract

We report the generation of coherent THz frequency combs in high-Q nonlinear microcavities. Driven by a continuous-wave laser and with Lugiato-Lefever formalism, the efficient THz Turing pattern has exceptional robustness and is observed in two-accompanying differential resonators. Square-spectrum combs are also observed, towards THz radiation.

Abstract

Abstract

The characteristics of wireless networks operating above 95 GHz are quite different from those of conventional wireless systems, due to the much shorter wavelength, which implies a significantly higher directionality and very different propagation behavior. We describe the challenges and opportunities for future networks operating at these frequencies.

Tub4.4 - LASER LEVEL SELECTION IN TERAHERTZ QUANTUM CASCADE LASERS

Abstract

Abstract

The active region of a terahertz quantum cascade laser with two optical transitions is studied. The population of upper laser states, which correspond to 3.4 and 3.8 THz, are investigated at different operating temperatures and in a strong magnetic field.

Abstract

Abstract

Here, we propose an actively tunable LC based MM device that can achieve linear to elliptical polarization conversion of THz wave in the reflection mode. Based on simulation result, the device is able to modulate the reflected wave polarization.

Abstract

Abstract

Terahertz technology has now reached a state of maturity, where it is possible to operate on the system level and design of out-of-the-lab solutions for security and defense applications within the 0.3-3.0 THz spectral range like, e.g., standoff detection of explosives or THz communication.
