In 2017, Minnesota child protection agencies received 84,148 reports of child maltreatment, of which 37,736 were “screened in” for assessment/investigation. 7,482 children entered out-of-home care. Come to learn how a report of maltreatment progresses from the initial call, through assessment/investigation, to the decision for safety planning and possible placement. This session is intended as a basic overview for those who don’t work in child protection to better understand how the child protection system works in Minnesota.
