MB3.1 - 2D MATERIAL INTEGRATED NANOPHOTONICS RESONATORS
MB3.2 - SPECTROSCOPY OF QUANTUM EMITTERS IN TWO-DIMENSIONAL H-BN
Abstract
Abstract
In this talk, we discuss our recent experiments on the spectral response under applied strain of quantum emitters based on structural defects in hBN. We also report on photoluminescence excitation experiments that allow to identify the vibronic excited states associated to their characteristic energy level structure.
MB3.3 - FIELD ENHANCEMENT OF EPSILON-NEAR-ZERO MODES IN ATOMIC-LAYER-DEPOSITED ZNO:AL NANOLAYERS
Abstract
Abstract
We derive an expression for electric-field intensity enhancement due to the epsilon-near-zero modes in ultra-thin conducting layers. We show that absorptance and field enhancement in aluminum-doped zinc oxide nanolayers grown by atomic layer deposition are controlled by nanolayer thickness and optical losses.
TuC2.1 - WIRED AND WIRELESS CONVERGENCE IN FUTURE OPTICAL ACCESS NETWORKS
Abstract
Abstract
Increasing network centralization and the proliferation of radio x-haul over fiber will lead to the effective convergence of optical networks - previously considered to be distinct. This work proposes system-level design considerations and requirerments for network convergence and wired/wireless service co-existence in future optical access.
TuC2.2 - OPTICAL FIBER IN WIRELESS NETWORKS: FROM RADIO-OVER-FIBER DAS TO 5G RAN
Abstract
Abstract
We review the role of optical fiber as a transport medium in the three generations of in-building wireless networks. We show that fiber becomes a necessity for 5G radio access networks (RAN) operating in high-bandwidth regions of the spectrum at millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies.
TuC2.3 - DEMONSTRATION OF REFLECTED INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION IN SINGLE-WAVELENGTH BIDIRECTIONAL PON SYSTEM
Abstract
Abstract
This paper proposes a novel cancellation technique of a Fresnel reflected light in single-wavelength bidirectional wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON) transmission system. We experimentally confirmed error vector magnitude (EVM) and bit error rate (BER) improvements in comparison with no cancellation case.
TuC2.4 - DYNAMIC BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION AND FORWARDING ORDER CONTROL TECHNIQUES IN TDM-PON FOR ACCOMMODATING FRONTHAUL TRAFFIC
Abstract
Abstract
This paper proposes a novel delay aware dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme to maximize the number of transmittable ONUs within latency requirement for fronthaul. We confirm that the total number of the transmittable ONUs is 23.5% improved.
WF1.1 - Metasurfaces for active photonic devices
WF1.2 - EXCEPTIONAL NANOPHOTONICS
Abstract
Abstract
Exceptional nanophotonics, creating quantum symmetry on-a-chip and utilizing its associated topology, enables novel photonics functionalities. In particular, I will discuss an orbital angular momentum microlaser and non-Hermitian topological photonics for robust yet flexible photonic integrated circuits and laser sources for optical communication and computing.

Abstract
Abstract
In this work we show our results on the harmonic generation and nonlinear frequency mixing enhanced by Mie modes in GaAs metasurfaces. Moreover, we show enhancement and directionality control of the quantum dot emission embedded in the metasurface.
WD1.1 - ALL OPTICAL GSPS ANALOG-DIGITAL CONVERTORS (ADC)
Abstract
Abstract
Direct digital receivers operating up to millimeter wave frequencies are desired for telecommunications, instrumentation, and surveillance, as analog received signals are digitized for high performance signal processing. All optical GSPS ADC with high ENOB is presented using stable clock, spatial light modulator, and quantizer.WD1.2 - POWER-OVER-FIBER FOR REMOTE ANTENNA UNITS
Abstract
Abstract
This paper introduces power-over-fiber technologies using double-clad fibers for driving remote antenna units without any external power supply systems in radio-over-fiber networks.
