Abstract

Breast cancer (BC) remains a persistent clinical problem claiming more than 40,000 lives a year in the United States alone. Although conventional chemotherapy is beneficial, a considerable percentage of patients either do not respond to therapy, develop resistant tumors, or exhibit excessive toxic side effects. Therefore, it is important to identify combination treatments that increase efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs while reducing toxic side effects.
