Abstract

This session highlights an initiative employed by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to address the opioid crisis in the United States. Since 2013, AOA has been a partner in the Collaborative for REMS Education (CO*RE), which is comprised of multi-disciplinary organizations who share concern for the ravaging impact of the opioid crisis. The CO*RE organizations have joined together to create and provide accredited education on immediate and extended-release long-acting opioid therapies. Over the span of six years, the AOA CO*RE REMS program has been offered to osteopathic physicians and other health professionals across the United States, especially in areas of greatest need. The program is funded by a grant from the REMS Program Companies (RPC).
