Abstract

In a pilot study, we used a direct-to-consumer DNA test (23andMe), to supplement a course in Human Genetics. Students were surveyed with Pre/Post tests and a reaction survey. The results of the assessment demonstrated that the experiential component of the course--the saliva test--enhanced their learning and the learning experience was valuable to them as future physicians.
