Abstract

This research tested the hypothesis that community health fairs are beneficial in encouraging the initiation and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle and in promoting public awareness of the osteopathic medical profession. The results supported that accessible screenings and health education through our health fairs assisted our community members to become more health empowered. Additionally, the data shows that based on the number of returning health fair attendees, the health fairs have the potential to yield a positive relationship between DOs and communities by increasing exposure of the mission of osteopathic medicine.
