Abstract

There has been a long tradition of student physicians learning procedures by practicing on each other. However this has been on the wane with the recent emphasis on simulation medical training. This study allowed further insight into the attitudes of medical students in regard to performing intravenous insertions. We analyzed student feelings of anxiety related to IV insertions and their preferences and thoughts on the comparability of practicing IV insertions on students versus on mannequins.
